About Aunty Amo

I’m Annmarie Miles.
Amo to most people and Aunty Amo to a multitude of nieces and neffs. 🙂 I’m from Tallaght in Dublin, I live in Pontypool in South Wales. In Dec 2015 my husband Richard became a Pastor. Life will never be the same again 🙂

I’m working on going from fattie to fittie. There is no ‘D’ in my life. Just lots of small changes that have made one big one. A loss of 5 stone so far.

I love God, family, writing, learning, teaching and talking. You’ll find me on Twitter @amowriting and on Facebook #amowriting

Email: amowriting [at] gmail [dot] com
Fiction writing website: www.annmariemiles.co.uk

I love writing guest posts and I when I lived in Ireland I hosted some radio programmes. Now that I’m in the UK, I’m hoping I might get a chance to do that again…

When it comes to writing, I have two mantras.
“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” Louis L’amour
LORD, unless you build this house, I am building it in vain. (based on Psalm 127:1)

As well as the info above you can also ask a question and I’ll add it below.
Drop your question in the comments and I’ll answer it and add it here.

So, do you want to know anything else? (of course you do 🙂 )

DD: What size feet do u have?
Size 6
IB: Who is your fav author and why ?
Has to be Jane Austen. And I’m not just a P&P fan cos of Colin Firth. (Honest guv’) She knew her culture so well and was able to describe it and critique it in a fantastic and engaging way.
CK: Why is Catherine your favourite sister ?
Catherine! We’ve talked about this. I have 3 sisters, you are one of them and yes – you are my favourite – on Mondays and Thursdays
IB (again?) : Do you wear watching socks?? And what do you do with the odd ones?
I presume you mean matching socks? I would NOT wear socks that are watching me! Yes I always wear matching socks. I actually can’t wear odd ones. I keep all the odd socks in this house, in a drawer and every so often I got through them and make pairs if possible. (I also know how barmy that sounds :D)
MMc: If you were only allowed one single item of food on a deserted island – what food would that be, & why?

I want to say chocolate – but on a desert island it would be hot; and I doubt I’d have a fridge with me, so it would melt. Instead I’ll have Tayto cheese & onion crisps, with TK Red Lemonade. I presume the fruit on the trees is available too
VT: If you could be a TV character who would you be & why?
ohhh I love the mad techie in Criminal Minds – Penelope Garcia. She’s gorgeous and cool and funny and clever.
CH: If you could write a letter to your 15 year old self what would you say to her?
Here’s my answer in the form of a blog post.

Who’s next? 🙂

    Hi AuntYamo,

I just came across your site and saw that you’re interested in Christian Music.

I am currently working with Christian Pop/Rock artist, John DeGrazio, who has just released his third album, Stronghold, and I would love to send you a copy to check out for your site.

John is an accomplished singer/composer/producer and a two-time ASCAP Award winner. He has a number one hit song to his credit, has worked with many major label artists, played in the Dove Award winning group Burlap to Cashmere, and toured with Jars of Clay, DC Talk, and Jaci Velasquez.

For more info on John DeGrazio, check out the following sites:
    http://www.JohnDeGrazio.com
    http://www.shoutlife.com/johndegrazio

Please email me back and I’ll send you a link to download John’s album, Stronghold.

    Sincerely,
    Tom

    1. Hi Tom,
My niece has been approached by John DeGrazio this past month, and I was searching for some information on him and his organization (Watersound Entertainment?) when I came across your blog post.

Can I be so personal as to ask you how your experience has been? My niece is very young and vulnerable, and I would hate for her to be hurt by someone who took advantage of her naivete…

Any information you could give me would be welcomed.

      In Him,
      Uncle Skipper

  2. Hi, Aunty amo – an unusual and interesting site – fortunately preceded by explanations and raison d’etre.

It is on my f/b page The Official Blog of Dennis Coates under the title The Head of House aka How Women Rule.I would welcome your comments, Regards, Dennis.

    1. Dear Roberta
First of all please forgive me for the delay in responding. March is zooming past me at an alarming rate.
I’m truly honoured that you’ve nominated me for the Liebster award. I’ve seen it on one or two blogs and it looks like great fun
I’ve only recently done ‘The Next Big Thing’ on my blog, so would you mind if I waited a bit.
Maybe later in the year I could do when my readers have forgotten that I’ve already answered a bunch of questions about myself lol
I hope you don’t mind… as I said I’m thrilled to have been nominated.
Delighted to hear that you love Ireland so much 🙂 You’ll always be welcome!
Where did you live when you were here?

      1. Roberta Capizzi

No problem! I don’t think there’s a deadline for the post.
I lived for a few months in Dublin and in Sligo. Now I’m thinking about moving to the Aran Islands 🙂

  3. Thanks Roberta, I appreicate that.
Wow! The Aran Islands are fab! Great views and atmosphere to get the creative juices flowing 🙂 Make sure to get in touch if you do come this way. It would be great to meet up.
    Thanks again, A x

  6. I want to thank you for all your comments during a to z. You sound like such an interesting person – one I would like to meet. My daughter (the veterinarian) applied to vet school in Dublin and was accepted and was also accepted here in Florida where we live (whew!) I though for a while we were going to lose her to Ireland. She’s been there, and I hope to visit someday.

    1. Thanks Shirley. I’m just sorry I didn’t get there more often. I’ll keep popping over.
You’ll be very welcome to ireland 🙂 If you’re coming, let me know 🙂
